Hellman-Ehrman Mansion Wedding in Lake Tahoe | Destination Wedding at Sugar Pine Point

Hellman-Ehrman Mansion wedding photos on pier at Lake Tahoe Sugar Pine Point

The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion at Sugar Pine Point is one of the most beautiful and historic wedding venues in Lake Tahoe. Sitting right on the shoreline with towering pine trees, lake views, and one of the most iconic piers in Tahoe, it is the perfect location for couples planning a destination wedding in Northern California.

This wedding was especially memorable, not only because of the incredible setting, but because the entire day was full of emotion, unexpected weather, and one of the largest bridal parties I have ever photographed.

Hellman-Ehrman Mansion Wedding | Historic Lake Tahoe Venue

The Hellman-Ehrman Mansion, located inside Sugar Pine Point State Park, was built in the early 1900s and is one of the most well-known historic estates in Lake Tahoe. The property sits directly on the water and offers a combination of forest, lakefront, and historic architecture, which makes it one of my favorite venues to photograph.

For weddings, the mansion grounds allow for outdoor ceremonies, lakeside portraits, and sunset photos on the pier, all within walking distance. It’s a dream location for couples who want a classic Lake Tahoe wedding with a timeless feel.

Destination Wedding in Lake Tahoe with Guests Traveling from Texas

This was a destination wedding, with the couple and nearly all of their guests traveling in from Texas and other southern states. Lake Tahoe made the perfect meeting place for everyone, and the scenery definitely did not disappoint.

One of the most unique parts of this wedding was the size of the bridal party. The bride had all of her sorority sisters standing beside her, which meant she had 14 bridesmaids, the largest bridal party I have ever photographed. Despite the size, the entire group was incredibly close, and the energy all day was so much fun.

At one point while it was raining outside, all of the bridesmaids sat inside the cabin together singing Taylor Swift, which ended up being one of the sweetest moments of the entire day.

Rain, Hail, and an Outdoor Ceremony at Hellman-Ehrman Mansion

This July wedding came with some unexpected weather. We had rain, wind, and even a short hailstorm, but the couple never once considered moving the ceremony indoors.

Thanks to the incredible planning team at Married Poppins, everything stayed protected and ready. They covered the ceremony space over and over as the weather changed, making sure every detail stayed perfect until the skies finally cleared.

When the rain stopped, the lake looked incredible, the light softened, and the outdoor ceremony ended up being absolutely beautiful.

One of the most emotional parts of the day was the way the bride’s brothers stepped in to honor their father, who had passed away. She shared a first look with all four of them, and throughout the day they took turns filling the roles he would have held, from walking her down the aisle to speeches and dances. It was one of the most meaningful moments I have ever witnessed at a wedding.

Sunset Wedding Portraits on the Pier at Sugar Pine Point

After the ceremony and reception, we walked down to the pier for sunset portraits, and somehow had the entire shoreline to ourselves.

The lake was calm, the sky cleared, and the light was perfect. These are always some of my favorite moments at Hellman-Ehrman Mansion weddings, because the pier gives you that classic Lake Tahoe look that couples travel from all over the country for.

Between the storm earlier in the day and the peaceful sunset at the end, this wedding felt like the perfect example of why Lake Tahoe destination weddings are so special.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Reception at Hellman-Ehrman Mansion Under the Stars

After the ceremony, the celebration continued with an outdoor reception at Hellman-Ehrman Mansion overlooking the lake. Once the weather cleared, the evening turned into the most beautiful summer night in Lake Tahoe, with clear skies, cool air, and the perfect setting for dancing with friends and family.

One of my favorite moments was when the bride changed into a short reception dress that had been made from her mother’s wedding gown. It was such a meaningful way to honor her family while still having something fun and comfortable to dance in.

As the night went on, everyone danced under the Tahoe sky, surrounded by the lake, the trees, and the historic mansion. It was the perfect ending to a wedding day that started with rain and hail, but finished with one of the most beautiful evenings you could ask for at a Lake Tahoe wedding.
